Design and Build Quality
Both the G29 and G923 have pretty much the same high quality build, hefty feel, with hand stitched leather around the steering wheel itself. The sifters along the sides of both wheels are metal, as are the accelerator, brake, and clutch pedals. The overall construction of the wheel and pedals are high quality plastic.
Force Feedback and Driving Experience
The Force Feedback of the G29 is “dual-motor force”. This was fine, “back in the day”, with 2.1 newton meters of torque. However, higher-end wheels were much more realistic.
With the G923 Logitch has upgraded the Force Feedback with “TrueForce high-definition”. As the name implies, “TrueForce” gives us much more realism to road conditions. Immerse yourself in drift, and hairpin turns for a very realistic experience.
Pedals and Brake Feel
Some users have criticized the brake “feel” of the G29. They say that the brake hits 100% even before the brake is pressed halfway. There are fixes, however, like going into Logitech “G” hub and changing the sensitivity.
With the G923, Logitech has added a spring to the brake which makes the brake “feel” heavier as you continue to press down. However, some users now say that the G923 is “too” stiff.
Compatibility of the Logitech G29, and the G923
While the earlier G29 is compatible with PS 3, PS4, and the PC, the newer G923 takes things a step of two further by dropping PS3, and adding PS5. So, the G923 is compatible with PC 4, PC5, and the PC.
Date of Manufacture
While the older G29 was manufactured and released in 2015, the newer G923 was released in 2020. Don’t let the age of the G29 turn you away from this wheel, however. Inspite of it’s years, the G29 remains a staple of many gamers to this day.
Suitable for Beginners?
While both the Logitech G29 and the G923 are both great wheels for beginners, some say that the G29 does not perform as well on dirt tracks as the G923. Both wheels perform well on asphalt.
Price and Value for Money
Prices change over the years, but as of this review (September, 2023), the Logitech G29 was $244.00, and the Logitech G923 was $349.99. I feel that considering the value each of these wheels give users, these prices are more than fair.
User Reviews and Feedback
*User A*: “The G29 offers great value for its force feedback and pedal set.”
HOWEVER
- *User B*: “The G923’s TrueForce technology adds a new level of realism to my sim racing sessions.”
- Finally
– *User C*: “I appreciate the G923’s compatibility with my PS5; it’s been a fantastic addition to my setup.”
Conclusion about the Logitech G29 vs G923
- In conclusion, Beginners and sim racing veterans will find great value with either the Logitech G29 or the Logitech G923. The G923 brings it’s new TrueForce force feedback to the table. The new technology adds a more realistic feel to track and road conditions.
- However, not to be undone, the Logitech G29 remains a solid competitor, especially for those on a budget, or those still using previous-generation consoles.
Consider your gaming platform, budget, and desired level of realism when making your choice. Whichever you choose, you’re in for an exciting and immersive racing experience.
